Of course you need the ability to write. And you need the ability to sell your ideas to other people. But there are 3 things few courses, books, or gurus ever mention about how to be a successful copywriter. So if no one has told you about them before... let me be the first... 1. You need intense cu...

Re: How do you write when you're not in the mood?

One thing I do is start writing absolute stream of consciousness. Use an open like in Leaving Las Vegas or something… “We were somewhere out past the county line when we saw the body.” or similar and just write gibberish that doesn’t have to make a story, create a real paragraph or anything else. It...

Re: How do you write when you're not in the mood?

For me, one of the best methods to get past writers block is to just start writing. Once I get started it’s easier to keep going. I guess we could sum it up to Newton’s first law of motion – a.k.a. “the law of inertia”. An object at rest tends to stay at rest, and it’s easier for an object in motion...

So, what business books are you reading right now?

So, what business books are you reading right now? That was the question I asked this young buck the other day, when he asked me how he could make more money with his online business. Of course, I could’ve gone through the standard list of normal questions, like… - who’s your target market…? - what ...

Re: What's the difference between online and offline copywriting

Are they same thing or different? A few years ago I got asked this question a lot. Not so much anymore because most people seem to feel the same as Franklin (that offline is dead or dying) But the truth is, when it comes to sales copy… I still get a lot of “junk mail” everyday from credit card comp...

Do You Believe In Magic?

Look Daddy, that man just pulled a rabbit out of his hat! How did he do that? I don’t know honey… it must be MAGIC ! rabbit-in-hat.png Oh the enchantment of youth. When parlor tricks and slight of hand equated to genuine magic. Sadly, as we grow up and find ourselves needing to be more “realistic” i...

Email copy from Netflix

This is an email I got from Netflix a while back… I won’t break it down with too much critique this time. I’ll just let you look at it, and soak it all in… So what do you think of it? netflix-raising-rates-email.jpg Without trying to sway your opinion, let me just say I think it’s pretty good copy. ...
