Re: I’d like a critique
Those are great points. I actually feel the same, but some of the directions I get with these things are incredibly micromanaged. One article was actually named “What Makes a Car a Classic?” and it also had a brief mention of insurance further down. This one will link to that one on their site. I th...

I’d like a critique
The Classic Car Club of America gave me three assignments about classic car insurance on Textbroker today and I’d like an opinion. This is one, but they’re all about the same, with more about what a classic car actually is on the other two. These were a nickel a word on their end. I took home 3.7 c...

Rip Into This One
Ha ha just ran across an article I wrote back in the Demand Media days, maybe 2012 or so. Demand went on to essentially collapse and transform into Leaf Group. This particular article has made the rounds on various properties. I believe ItStillRuns is this story’s sixth different home. The article i...

Re: Is gender based selling still a thing?
My mother always taught me that men are very stupid and need a woman in their lives to keep them from doing stupid things. She believed that women should control the checkbook, the household and the government. Unfortunately, she was a liberal New England Republican who campaigned for the ERA, but m...

It’s also important to remember that half the population doesn’t live in a city. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that lots of people aren’t anywhere near urban centers. I live 20 miles from the nearest town and it’s only got 600 people in it. There are still lots of places where people don’t spend a l...

My Name is Mike, and (sob) I’m a… I’m… (a writer)
Hi. I am new to freelancing full time, but I’ve been slaving in the content mill salt mines for 10 years. Texbroker, Demand Media, Constant Content, Writer Access, Freelancer, Odesk, Elance, a whole bunch more that aren’t even around anymore. Originally started with this stuff just for a little extr...

Designating your subheaders as H2 (the title on a WordPress blog post is H1) lets Google identify what the content is about and also does what SARubin mentioned, makes it bold and draws the eyes to it. Try Different Methods of Presenting Points Use somewhat shorter paragraphs than you might see in p...

Re: How do you write when you're not in the mood?
One thing I do is start writing absolute stream of consciousness. Use an open like in Leaving Las Vegas or something… “We were somewhere out past the county line when we saw the body.” or similar and just write gibberish that doesn’t have to make a story, create a real paragraph or anything else. It...
