How to craft a powerful guarantee in your sales copy… And increase conversions
satisfaction-guarantee.jpg Reading Time: About 4 minutes One copywriting staple that belongs in almost every offer is the “guarantee” (I say “almost” every offer because some offers, like clearance sales, or going out of business sales, or private sales, might be “as is, as seen, no guarantee” offe...

Are there any good ai content writers?
Every once in a while this question pops up on a forum or chat room. The answer I usually give is “NO”, because the few decent ones I’ve seen still pumped out articles that read like they were written by a machine. (the majority of them pump out meaningless gibberish that’s barely understandable) I’...

This Is Why Hyped-up Sales Copy Doesn’t Work Anymore…
trust-in-sales-copy.jpg Reading Time: About 3 minutes In the past, marketers have tried to hype up and even glamorize their products or services to make them sound more exciting and irresistible. And technically there’s nothing wrong with that way of thinking, because we all need to make our offer ...

Re: How long should it take to write an original, good quality article?
Another question I now have is how much do others charge per word for writing? What is a good rate for someone with over 2 years experience? Yeah, that’s another tough question Ernie. Again, there really is no one-size-fits-all answer. It partly depends on the platform you’re selling from. If your ...

Good guess Wordy,
Let's wait to see if anyone else has a guess. If no one else responds, then I'll PM you the winning answer (so it'll just be our secret)...

Which headline was the winner?
I asked this same question at one of the other copywriting forums I used to hang out at (I still stop by there from time to time). Anyway, I got some interesting responses over at the WF, so I thought I’d share it here… It’s a little guessing game for y’all (I say for y’all, because I already know t...

Re: How long should it take to write an original, good quality article?
That’s a good question, Ernie. I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all answer. As you said yourself, if it takes more research then it takes longer to write the article. Someone with intimate knowledge of the subject might pump out a good quality, 1000 word article in under half an hour. If it’...

Yeah, they do seem to micromanage their writers a bit.
But I guess as long as they're paying the bills they get to call the shots?

Good stuff, Mike – The only thing that confused me was the opening title… How Much Is Classic Car Insurance? When I read it I expected to immediately start learning about “classic car insurance” but you don’t mention insurance until 2/3 of the way down the page? At the beginning that left me a littl...

Re: Is gender based selling still a thing?
With women, it takes a lot of research, composition, facts, logic, structure and persuasion because they are very suspicious of those “Hold my beer” moments. They buy what they want, when they want it. Sometimes the facts, logic and composition can be quick and straight forward (especially when the...

Re: My Name is Mike, and (sob) I’m a… I’m… (a writer)
Welcome aboard Mike, Yeah, I’ve never been a big fan of those content mills. I call them “freelance farms” because they pack freelancers in like cattle, and sell their services by the pound. That’s part of the reason I started this site. I want to give freelance writers a place where they can show t...

The most basic copywriting formula – AIDA
The most basic copywriting formula (and probably the oldest) is what’s known as AIDA , which stands for… Attention – Online or offline, in a world full of clutter the first thing we need to do is get our target markets attention. Because if we don’t get consumers attention, then they’ll never know w...

Re: Email copy from Netflix
Excellent points Debra, They certainly could’ve expanded their prose with a few more benefits. I guess I was just giving Netflix the benefit of the doubt with this email. But now that they have some competition from a couple of other major players (most notably Disney) moving into the streaming busi...

Re: Read This Before Making Suggestions
Hmm, those are good ideas, Debra – I’m not sure what we could do about helping writers with pricing (because let’s face it… these days prices are all over the board, from a penny a word up to thousands of dollars for a sales letter, and everywhere in between). But a section with swipe files, templat...

Hi Debra, Glad you found us 🙂 This site is still pretty new so we can definitely use experienced writers, like yourself, to help make it a better place for copywriters to learn, teach and share their experience. Overcoming objections in your sales copy
Overcoming-Objections.jpg Reading Time: About 4 minutes When selling through the written word many writers are tempted to only talk about everything that’s great with their product. Which makes sense at one level, because if we only talk about the good stuff it will cause our reader to only think a...

New “old school” direct response flyer
Like the title indicates, this “old school” direct response piece recently came to me in the mail. It was an insert in one of those circulars that sometimes show up on the weekends. Anyway, when I saw this piece I couldn’t help but feel a bit nostalgic. What I mean is, with online advertising being ...
