Re: The rule of one by Michael Masterson

Good stuff Pernell, Personally, I believe the rule of sticking to one idea at a time is more important now than it’s ever been. With all the “Electronically Induced ADHD” in our society these days, staying focused on anything, for any length of time, is challenging enough for most people. If our cop...

Re: I Need help to write copy for dog-grooming service

Hey lottor, Yeah, this copy is weak my friend. The headline is not very attention grabbing. There’s no proof elements (except for you saying “we got over 50-satisfied client already”). You’re not really making a specific offer. There’s no guarantee or bold promise. And there’s no sense of urgency fo...

The power of story in copywriting

storytelling-in-copywriting.jpg Reading Time: About 3 minutes If you’ve ever heard a good story, or got caught up in a great movie, then you already know the power that stories have to enchant an audience. One reason stories captivate us so much is because, as humans, for thousands of years it was ...

Welcome Pernell, Happy to have you here. When you say… Reading, writing, and researching are some of my favorite hobbies too.(I’m a nerd.) I almost feel like we’re kindred spirits 😀 (those are some of my favorite hobbies too, and I’m also a nerd) Super impressed at your list of reading materials. Fe...

The Right Way To Create A Sense Of Urgency In Copywriting

“I have to think about it” Six little words that can kill a sale in a heartbeat… It’s well understood among most professional sales people, and especially among direct response copywriters… If a potential customer walks away before the purchase is made, because they have to “think about it”… There’...

Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins

How to craft a powerful guarantee in your sales copy… And increase conversions

satisfaction-guarantee.jpg Reading Time: About 4 minutes One copywriting staple that belongs in almost every offer is the “guarantee” (I say “almost” every offer because some offers, like clearance sales, or going out of business sales, or private sales, might be “as is, as seen, no guarantee” offe...

Are there any good ai content writers?

Every once in a while this question pops up on a forum or chat room. The answer I usually give is “NO”, because the few decent ones I’ve seen still pumped out articles that read like they were written by a machine. (the majority of them pump out meaningless gibberish that’s barely understandable) I’...

This Is Why Hyped-up Sales Copy Doesn’t Work Anymore…

trust-in-sales-copy.jpg Reading Time: About 3 minutes In the past, marketers have tried to hype up and even glamorize their products or services to make them sound more exciting and irresistible. And technically there’s nothing wrong with that way of thinking, because we all need to make our offer ...

Re: How long should it take to write an original, good quality article?

Another question I now have is how much do others charge per word for writing? What is a good rate for someone with over 2 years experience? Yeah, that’s another tough question Ernie. Again, there really is no one-size-fits-all answer. It partly depends on the platform you’re selling from. If your ...

Which headline was the winner?

I asked this same question at one of the other copywriting forums I used to hang out at (I still stop by there from time to time). Anyway, I got some interesting responses over at the WF, so I thought I’d share it here… It’s a little guessing game for y’all (I say for y’all, because I already know t...

Re: How long should it take to write an original, good quality article?

That’s a good question, Ernie. I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all answer. As you said yourself, if it takes more research then it takes longer to write the article. Someone with intimate knowledge of the subject might pump out a good quality, 1000 word article in under half an hour. If it’...

Yeah, they do seem to micromanage their writers a bit.

But I guess as long as they're paying the bills they get to call the shots?

Good stuff, Mike – The only thing that confused me was the opening title… How Much Is Classic Car Insurance? When I read it I expected to immediately start learning about “classic car insurance” but you don’t mention insurance until 2/3 of the way down the page? At the beginning that left me a littl...

Re: Is gender based selling still a thing?

With women, it takes a lot of research, composition, facts, logic, structure and persuasion because they are very suspicious of those “Hold my beer” moments. They buy what they want, when they want it. Sometimes the facts, logic and composition can be quick and straight forward (especially when the...

Re: My Name is Mike, and (sob) I’m a… I’m… (a writer)

Welcome aboard Mike, Yeah, I’ve never been a big fan of those content mills. I call them “freelance farms” because they pack freelancers in like cattle, and sell their services by the pound. That’s part of the reason I started this site. I want to give freelance writers a place where they can show t...
