Hi,
I 'm promoting products via email marketing but not getting a lot of sales.
Are there any pre-made, proven-to-convert email templates I can use to improve conversions?
Thanks

Have you tried signing up for email lists from other successful marketers in your niche?
Then you can see what they do and perhaps use some of their style as a templates to learn from.

But you will still need to build a relationship with your own list because what works for someone else may not work the same for you.

This is a good way to go.
Just make sure to change it up. You don't want to send the exact same email as everyone else to your list. Many of your readers might be on multiple email lists and if they're getting the same email from you they might decide there's no reason to stay on your list.

I have a bunch of email swipes I can send you, if you want them. (PM me and I'll send em to you)

They can give you a base to start from (like any good swipe file), but take heed of what Rhonda and Franklin said. Just because they worked for someone else doesn't mean they'll work the same for you. There's a lot of other factors that go into high converting copy.

There are a whole bunch of email templates anyone can use.

However, the question I'd ask you is, what gets your target audience to open and respond to your email?

What is your data showing you?

Do they like:

punchy subject lines
personal subject lines
alert subject lines
Psst subject lines
etc.

Next, do they like:

short email messages
long email messages
storyline email messages
newsletter email messages
etc.

Finally, what gets them to click your link to buy, learn, or discover more?

Review your data. Then craft your message based on what gets your audience to open, click and convert.

Yup, this right here is what it all boils down to. Wiser words have never been spoken.

Too many newbies think copywriting is all about using fancy words.
But understanding our market is the foundation for all sales. Everything else is just technique or tactic.

And of course testing and measuring tells us what our market is responding to

So I have an email I wrote for a client most would think would not get opened, let alone read in a B2B setting.

Here is the stripped-down version
Subject line:

How Fast Can Your Password Get Cracked? Guess Again!

Email:

Hi ~Contact.FirstName~,

I’ve got to tell you this shocking story about passwords getting hacked.

When I looked at the data, my jaw dropped to the floor.

Here’s what happened…

We love testing password strengths to see how fast a hacker can bypass it.

Yeah…it’s a thing, (don’t judge me) LOL!

Anyway, the current industry rule is to use a mixture of numbers, letters, and symbols...

…oh and at least 7-8 characters long.

Now, if you’re like me you know that 7-8 characters with a mixture of numbers, letters, and symbols is harder to hack.

Right? Guess again!

So, ~Contact.FirstName~, when I looked at the data, I nearly tripped over my jaw as it fell to the ground.

My eyes bugged…I didn’t believe it, so I tested for myself…

Yeah…I’m a stone-cold, chest puffed out skeptic!

My burly reaction? “OH DEAR, NO, NO, NO, NO! THIS IS NOT GOOD!!!”

It only took .29 milliseconds to crack that password wide open.

That’s less than a second…a SECOND!

…I mean, I followed the industry standard and made sure I used numbers, letters, and symbols

After countless attempts and testing, and testing, and testing…still, less than a second.

In the end, our team pooled all the data together and created an infographic with all the details.

<Click Here Link> and download the pdf.

~Owner.FirstName~

PS. Change your password, again!

~Owner.FirstName~ ~Owner.LastName~
~Owner.Title~
~Owner.Company~
~Owner.Phone1~

Results? 27% open rate and 13.75% clickthrough rate.

Edit: I forgot to add. We had a scrubbed list of 5600 emails for our initial test. After the results came in, we then sent the same message out to over 12,000 emails.

Those look like pretty decent numbers to me.

Out of curiosity... Did you run any split tests (subject line, opening lede, call to action, etc) with the non-responsive side of the list?

I find we can often pick up a few more percentage points by making a tweak or two, and re-sending to the non responders.

With this client, it was hard enough to get him to agree to this storyline email. He cringed at the initial idea. Once he was supposedly onboard, that was the extent he would go.

Our account manager tried multiple times, explaining the campaign wasn't finished and we needed to follow-up and try a different message with the non-responsive test list. In the end, he did convert some responders into accounts, but wouldn't pull the trigger to let us finish.

It was a great disappointment to see a client walk away but in my personal opinion, he wasn't expecting a win fall and it may have overwhelmed him. With the different marketing and ad agencies, I freelance for I've seen this happen many times.

Some people can't get out of their own way. Fear of success can be as bad as fear of failure for some.
