Are we all hackers now?

Well, I think we've all dreamed of being a bit of a modern-day spy hacking into stuff, haven't we? Especially with all the stuff you see on the TV shows... But, at the end of the day, what's the thing that really makes a good hacker, beyond the myth? Do you think anyone can really pull it off with the right methods, or is there some innate talent involved? And seriously, are labs really that much of a training ground? Or is it just a marketing ploy to get us hooked? I don't want to end up a noob for the rest of my life either!
