AGITATION is a powerful emotion in copywriting.

Knowing how to sell is half the equation... Knowing why people buy is the bigger half.

AGITATION is a powerful emotion in copywriting.

Post by SARubin »

At its base, it's the annoying feeling of being upset or uneasy about the current situation.

When we tap into our readers anxiety, and agitate it further, we not only stir up our readers discomfort but we also establish rapport by letting them know we understand what they're feeling.

Once we stir up the agitation we can guide our reader towards a solution... Our solution.

Here's a few internal sensations an agitated person is going through.
Think about these when starting your sales copy to help you connect with your reader by showing them you understand how they feel...
  • - The inability to stay focused
  • - Becoming confused and feeling overwhelmed
  • - Not knowing where to go or what to do
  • - Feeling overheated or light headed
  • - Mounting frustration that could lead to anger or depression
  • - Triggering the "fight or flight" response and looking for an escape
  • - Making excuses to justify feelings of personal inadequacy
  • - Staying busy with less important tasks to avoid dealing with the source of the frustration

And here's a few emotional words you can weave into your copy to help your reader feel a little more agitated...

Bugged
Impatient
Sullen
Uptight
Aggravated
Annoyed
Antagonistic
Cranky
Irritated
Testy
Ticked off

Weave some of these feelings into your copy. And then present your offer as the solution.

It's one powerful way to trigger a higher response from your readers.
A good marketer knows how to think like a marketer - A great marketer learns how to think like the customer...
