Knowing how to sell is half the equation... Knowing why people buy is the bigger half.

ANGER in copywriting is one of the more powerful emotions we can invoke in our reader

Post by SARubin »

Closely associated with a feeling of outrage - aligning our copy with our readers anger can immediately create rapport and empathy.

But we don't want to take it too far, invoking anger just for the sake of anger, or we run the risk of unleashing a monster and having our reader turn that anger against us.

Instead, we use anger as a "pace and lead" tactic to guide our reader. Like a bridge from their frustration to our solution.

Here's a few signs of someone who's feeling angry...

Flaring nostrils
Narrowing, squinting eyes
Tight lips
Shallow breathing
Clenched fists
Rising blood pressure and quickening heartbeat

And here's a few words you can add to your copy that express anger...

Belligerent
Bitter
Enraged
Fuming
Furious
Intense
Outraged
Seething
Vengeful
Hostile
Irate
Resentful
Uptight

Weave some of these feelings into your copy to show your reader you understand their anger. Then pace and lead them to your solution.
It's one more powerful way to trigger a higher response from your copywriting.
